What are Invisalign invisible braces?
How Invisalign works and what’s in it for you.
Also called invisible braces, Invisalign is the new, comfortable, removable and nearly invisible way to straighten your teeth.
Over 5 million patients have straightened their teeth with Invisalign and chances are you already know someone who has had Invisalign treatment, without even realising it.
Unlike traditional braces, there are no brackets or metal wires. Invisalign braces uses a series of removable aligners that are completely transparent and nearly invisible, even up close.
It works by wearing a series of aligners, changed every few weeks. Each aligner gently pushes on and moves your teeth towards the desired location.
What problems does Invisalign help with?
Invisalign braces are an orthodontic treatment for issues such as:
Is Invisalign Better than traditional braces?
Compared to traditional braces, Invisalign offers a few key benefits;
- Invisalign braces are completely clear and hardly noticeable, so you can choose this option if you aren’t happy with the look of traditional braces.
- Invisalign braces are removable; you can take them off before eating or before brushing your teeth.
- Invisalign doesn’t come with food and drink restrictions. You can eat or drink as usual and then put the aligner back on again.
- Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign not only controls the amount of movement that each aligner delivers, but also the timing of the movement.
- Because they are less than one millimetre thick, Invisalign aligners offer patients a less invasive alternative to orthodontic correction.
Why Choose Us?
No two Invisalign providers are the same and not all have the confidence or experience to take on complex cases like we do.
At West House Dental, you’ll have access to one of UKs leading specialist Orthodontist with extensive experience in invisible orthodontic techniques.
So, if you’ve been told that your case is not suitable for Invisalign treatment we’d be happy to give you a second opinion.
What is the Invisalign process step by step?
Your Invisalign treatment starts with a free consultation at West House Dental. Our dentists will evaluate your smile to determine if Invisalign braces are right for you. They will then create a digital smile simulation to show you how your straightened teeth will look.
After you and your dentist have approved your treatment plan, the individual Invisalign clear aligners will be created. You will wear each set of aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day and change to a new set of aligners every 1 to 2 weeks. Each aligner will gently and gradually shift your teeth into place, until your smile has been transformed.
Do I need to see a specialist Orthodontist for Invisalign?
Your dentist will evaluate your smile and if you need Orthodontic expertise they will ask you to see our in-house specialist Orthodontist Dr Telmo Iceta at no extra cost.
If you are looking for a second opinion, and are aware you have a complex bite, you can choose to book a complimentary Invisalign consultation directly with Dr Telmo Iceta, one of UKs leading Orthodontist and expert in invisible braces.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
The length of treatment for invisible braces varies from person to person. Your dentist will determine exactly how long your treatment will take. On average, however, Invisalign treatment times vary between 12 to 18 months. Though it’s possible to start seeing results far sooner.
How many hours per day should I wear my Invisalign braces?
We recommend you wear your Invisalign braces between 20 to 22 hours a day. Removing them for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing.
How often will I see my dentist at West House Dental?
Your entire treatment will be under the care of an experienced dentist. It is really important that we see you regularly during your Invisalign journey.
We will usually see you every 6-8 weeks. At these appointments we will check to see how your teeth are tracking and ensure everything is moving as planned. If there are any problems we can deal with these quickly to ensure it does not compromise or delay the result.
Are there any restrictions on what I can eat or drink?
Unlike traditional metal braces, there are no restrictions on what you can eat and drink. You simply remove your invisible braces before consuming any food or drink. You can keep your Invisalign braces on however, when drinking water.
What is the best way to clean my aligners?
To clean your Invisalign braces, we recommend gently brushing them with a toothbrush and rinsing them in cold water.
Never use hot water on your Invisalign clear aligners or consume hot drinks with your aligner on – the heat can permanently warp your clear plastic aligners.
