How Does Gummy Smile Fix Work?

Also known as excessive gingival display, the gummy smile appears when a large part of the gums (more than 4 mm) is visible when you smile.

Women are more predisposed to this and, although it’s not a concerning dental condition, it can considerably affect your self-confidence.

Many patients who have a gummy smile feel embarrassed to smile, and even avoid doing so in public.

Until recently, surgical orthodontic procedures were the only way to correct a gummy smile, but now you can achieve an aesthetically pleasing smile with Botox injections.

When used for cosmetic purposes, Botox acts as a muscle relaxant.

During the procedure, a tiny amount of Botox will be injected into the muscle responsible for lifting the upper lip.

This relaxes the muscle and lowers the lip so that when you smile, the upper lip doesn’t rise above the teeth as much.

The injections can be adjusted depending on the desired results.

The effects are not permanent and usually last between 8 to 12 weeks.

What Are The Benefits Of Botox Gummy Smile Correction?

If you have a gummy smile and want to get rid of it, but you find corrective surgery to be too invasive or expensive, a Botox treatment at our North West London clinic can be a great alternative:

  • Sessions typically take less than 30 minutes
  • Botox injections are painless and non-invasive
  • More cost-effective than surgery
  • No downtime required
  • Results appear almost immediately and last for up to 12 weeks
  • Natural results that match your facial proportions

We want our patients to enjoy the best possible results when having Botox injections, which is why we collaborate with Prof. Dr. Milvia Di Gioia.

She is an experienced facial aesthetics practitioner on the UK Government approved Save Face register, who will first sit down with you for an initial consultation and discuss your needs.

Depending on how pronounced the excessive gingival display is, she will recommend the right Botox dosage for graceful results that highlight your natural beauty.
